Anita Lindblom "Sån't är livet" (1961) (single)

Sån't är livet
, 7'' single
release date: 1961
format: vinyl (271 201 TF)
[single rate: 4 / 5] [4,12]
producer: ?
label: Fontana - nationality: Sweden

Tracklist: A) "Sån't är livet" (5 / 5) (fan video) - - B) "Det är nå't mysko"

Single release by Anita Lindblom is a cover of a Roy Hamilton 1961 song "You Can Have Her" written by Bill Cook. The Swedish version has lyrics by Stig Rossner (aka Stikkan Anderson), and Lindblom's version was a major hit in all of Scandinavia.
This single was part of my parents' record collection, it's a song I vividly remember from my childhood as a song I have always loved. Not only was the song played on our turntable, but it was and it has been a stable song on national radio ever since the 1960s. It may not be played that often nowadays, but it has status as one of the most played and a highly loved modern standard.
Hamilton's version of the song is fine and strong, and he is one of the many forgotten stars who experienced lesser careers all because Elvis found inspiration in their performances and vocal styles, and he rightfully deserves more recognition. That said, Lindblom's version outshines the original. Her powerful vocal is up there among the greatest, although, she didn't exclusively choose a singing career, but this song more than proves her worth.

Jan & Kjeld "Banjo Boy" (1959) (single)

Banjo Boy, 7'' single
release date: 1959
format: vinyl (1960) (TD 45 49)
[single rate: 2,5 / 5] [2,66]
producer: ?
label: Triola - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Banjo Boy" - - B) "Mach doch nicht so viel Wind"

Single release by Danish duo Jan & Kjeld, who had an international hit with this song, especially in Germany, where they had started performing in the late 1950s with German schlagers, and also in The Netherlands where the single was released in '59. The Danish release came out in 1960 alongside a full-length album with the same title. The two siblings Jan and Kjeld Lennart Wennick first played on national TV in '57 after which they were promoted as musical 'wonderkids'. They had a few more hit singles in Germany, and they stayed to their style of playing popular covers of standards and schlagers. Their heydays were a ten-year period from their breakthrough and up around 1966 after which they kept touring for another decade before ending their engagements [ Danish wiki ].
This copy was part of my parents' record collection, and it was a single I used to play on a portable turntable at 6-8 years of age. It never was a single I found particular good - it was more of an obscurity, I think. 'Yes, they were kids and yeah, they knew how to play and sing, Okay. But it's not really that great'.
This is one of my very first music memories that wasn't purely children's songs, although, in this case: played by children.
👉 Another one from that earliest stage.

[single rate: 2 / 5] [2,12]
producer: ?

Tracklist: A) "Får jag följa dig en bit på vägen" - - B) "Kapten Kidd"

Single release by Swedish schlager and 'dansband' Sten & Stanley named after two of the founding members Sten Nilsson and Stanley Gransström. The two songs stem from two albums, the title song is taken from Röd var din mund, and the B-side is found on Sten & Stanley's australiska sångbok, both released in 1967.
This single was part of my parents' record collection, and it's a single I knew of at age 6-10 but never really enjoyed - probably because it's styled as schlager music.

Eddie Skoller "En enkel sang om frihed" (1970) (single)

En enkel sang om frihed, 7'' single
release date: 1970

The title track is a song by Bobby Darin titled "Simple Song of Freedom", not issued by Darin until '71, and here with (more or less directly translated) Danish lyrics by Skoller.
This single was part of my parents' record collection, and it's a single I knew of at age 6-10 but never really enjoyed - probably because it's touching on schlager music.

Bjørn Tidmand "Bjørn Tidmand's bedste" (1970)

Bjørn Tidmand's bedste
release date: 1970
format: vinyl (MOFK 102)
[album rate: 3 / 5] [2,75]
producer: ?
label: Odeon - nationality: Denmark

Best of compilation by Danish schlager pop vocalist Bjørn Tidmand.
The album was part of my parents' record collection, and it's an album I vividly recall from my pre-teen years. I'm still doubtful as to whether I actually acquired this myself as one of my first vinyl purchases, and perhaps then alongside Stop en halv by John Mogensen or together with I Don't Believe in If Anymore by Roger Whittaker. The price tag on the front cover could indicate this was on sale - say in '75, and then it makes perfect sense. Fact is, I really enjoyed Tidmand at that age, and together with Mogensen and Roger Whittaker, he could have been one of my first choices when finding music on my own. Back then, Tidmand soon slipped my mind when music by ABBA and Boney M was more to my liking, and in retrospect, Tidmand is associated with schlager music that I don't find that appealing but who undoubtedly back in the 60s an even in the mid 70s, he was quite popular among my parents' and my gran parents' generations.

Bjørn Tidmand "Hold dig på måtten, Jensen" (1967) (single)

Hold dig på måtten, Jensen, 7'' single
release date: 1967
format: vinyl (DK 1649)
[single rate: 2,5 / 5] [2,45]
producer: ?
label: Odeon - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Hold dig på måtten, Jensen" - - B) "Giv mig din hånd"

Single release by early Danish pop vocalist Bjørn Tidmand who had only just had a singles hit with "Nu ta'r jeg til Dublin". This one, a cover of the Swedish song "Håll dej till höger, Svensson" performed by The Telstars and written by Peter Himmelstrand and with new Danish lyrics by Peter Mynte became another hit by Tidmand. Somewhat odd, the original was an information song to the Swedish population about the new traffic rule of conduct when transferring from left-handed trafic to right-handed, whereas the Danish version is a song directed to Jensen about staying true to his beloved and the warning of not fooling around...
This single was part of my parents' record collection, it's a song I remember from my childhood as a song I enjoyed at age 6-9. I did like Bjørn Tidmand as a pre-teen, at a time when the music of my parents still had the strongest impact on my liking.

Nu ta'r jeg til Dublin, 7'' single
release date: 1967
format: vinyl (DK 1646)
[single rate: 2,5 / 5] [2,28]
producer: ?
label: Odeon - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Nu ta'r jeg til Dublin" - - B) "Goodnight My Love"

Single release by early Danish pop vocalist Bjørn Tidmand who made a national breakthrough at age 23 when he participated at the national Eurovision contest with the song "Amiga Mia", which came second and around the same time he released the national hit song "Brænd mine breve" - a cover of "Pick Up the Pieces" by Larry Finnegan (aka John Finneran). "Nu ta'r jeg til Dublin" is an Irish traditional - the original is titled "Off to Dublin in the Green" (here with The Dubliners) - with Danish lyrics by Thøger Olesen and Tidmand's version topped the Danish singles chart in '67.
This single was part of my parents' record collection, it's a song I remember from my childhood as a song I enjoyed at age 6-9. I did like Bjørn Tidmand as a pre-teen, at a time when the music of my parents still had the strongest impact on my liking.

Rikki Price "You're for Real" (1962) (single)

You're for Real, 7'' single
release date: 1962
format: vinyl (267 200)
[single rate: 2,5 / 5] [2,56]
producer: ?
label: Fontana - nationality: England, UK

Single release by Rikki Price with the title track being England's contribution to the 1962 Eurovision Song Contest.
This copy of the single is a Danish issue, perhaps released at some point after the original release, as it says 'Recording first published 1962" on labels. The single was part of my parents' record collection and not one I found of great interest - although, I recall finding the B-side bettering the title track.

Johnny Reimar "Lille fregnede Louise" (1965) (single)

Lille fregnede Louise
, 7 single
release date: 1965
format: vinyl
[single rate: 3 / 5] [2,75]
producer: ?
label: Philips - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Lille fregnede Louise" - - B) "Gid det går dig godt"

Single release by Danish pop schlager artists Johnny Reimar (aka Reimar Kristensen). Around '63 Reimar had a near lethal accident on stage with shock from his electric guitar while performing in his (Cliff Richard and The Drifters' copy-) rock-band The Clifters - the band continued with various lead vocalists, while Reimar after recovering side-stepped with a new band, The Scarlett, before pursuing a solo career with a stronger family-minded appeal from around '64. This very single is his first attempt with a song with Danish lyrics and with a combo of schlager and pop music, and it turned out as an immediate national hit, and Reimar basically stuck to this genre for the rest of his career. For younger generations, Reimar became associated with non-serious music that mostly found an appeal for birthday parties and the like - and for many his music was regarded as a bit of a joke - and quite undeservedly, 'cause many people enjoyed it, and then he did make a fine living as a performing entertainer. What many didn't realise was that Reimar was a musical forerunner, as manager, songwriter, promoter, and as producer of a vast number of national artists during the late 60s throughout the 70s, and well into the 80s. He stood behind established and upcoming names and artists like The Hitmakers, Bjørn & Okay, Keld Heick and the Donkeys, Birthe Kjær, Eddie Skoller, Brødrene Olsen, Savage Rose, Gnags, Mabel, and many more.
This copy was part of my parents' record collection, and it was a single I would play on a portable turntable at 6-8 years of age. It never was the kind of music that I found appealing - it was more of an obscurity, I think. Already back then, Reimar was a name I associated with a much older generation, and it was the type music I soon found to be out of sync with good taste, which of course was a very subjective way of thinking, but Reimar fought with the status as some kind party-entertainer for older people, and he would forever be linked with a happy-go-lucky attitude of some sort.

Tante Fjas "Hello Josephine" (1987) (single)

Hello Josephine
, 7'' single
release date: 1987
format: vinyl
[single rate: 2 / 5] [2,14]
producer: ?
label: Generation Records - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Hello Josephine" - - B) "Hello Josephine (Extra Fjas Ver.)"

Single release by Danish husband and wife act Tante Fjas consisting of 'Tage Fjas' (aka Leif Schouby) and 'Tante Fjas' (aka Evy Karitz). The song is a parodic version of the 1960 song "My Girl Josephine" by Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew.
This single was part of my parents' record collection and it was purchased after I left my childhood home, which means I only have little associations of this song stemming from some radio airplay during the late 80s. It never was a song I enjoyed or found valuable.

producer: ?
label: Polydor - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "I Napoli" - - B) "La bostella"

The quartet was founded in Copenhagen in 1955 and existed with changing line-ups until 1970 and especially saw a change of female lead vocalists. On this, Annie Lykke is new vocalist in replacement of Kate Sand, in '69 they were expanded to a quintet with Alice Anders on vocals, and for a time they played as a sextet with the addition of Annelise Brixager, also as vocalist, before dissolving in 1970.
The A-side track is a cover by Carlo Donida and with Danish lyrics by Peter Mynte, and the B-side is a cover by Perez Pilar with Danish lyrics by Peter Spar.
The single was part of my parents record collection, and it's an item that I never found entertaining, although, it's part of my first music memories that wasn't purely children's songs.

Familien Andersen "Hej sol - skin på mig! (1972 (single)

Hej sol - skin på mig!
, 7'' single
release date: 1972
format: vinyl
[single rate: 2 / 5] [1,82]
producer: Helmer Olsesen
label: Polydor - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Hej sol - skin på mig!" - - B) "Cirkus! Cirkus!"

Single release by Danish seven-members family act Familien Andersen fronted by the youngest 'star' of the family, Lille Bo (aka Bo Andersen). The family and especially Bo became stars overnight after performing the song "Jeg har set en rigtig negermand" on the national TV show "Musikalske venner" in 1970 (Bo as 4-year-old). The song was later included in the family film "Far til fire i højt humør" (1971) directed by Ib Mossin with Bo as Lille Per in one of the main parts performing the song, and with that, the family and Bo in particular experienced an overwhelming national popularity. Familien Andersen released at least two full-length albums: a Christmas album Jul med Familien Andersen (1970) with its renditions of popular Christmas Carrols, and their final album, for the most part consisting of original songs Familien Andersen (1975), after which they withdrew from performing.
The single was part of my parents record collection, and it's an item I never found entertaining, although, it's one of my very first music memories that wasn't purely children's songs.

Pusle Helmuth "Tryllesangen" (1967) (single)

Tryllesangen
, 7'' single
release date: 1967
format: vinyl
[single rate: 2 / 5] [1,76]
producer: ?
label: Polydor - nationality: Denmark

Tracklist: A) "Tryllesangen" - - B) "Jodlesangen"

Single taken from the Danish family film "Min søsters børn på bryllupsrejse" (1967) in which 'Pusle' (nickname - aka Louisa Nene Helmuth) plays her second part as child actor following her debut in "Min søsters børn" (1966) both directed by Annelise Reenberg. Both songs on the single is written by Erik Leth and composed by Sven Gyldmark, who composed music scores to more than 200 films throughout his career. As a popular feature young children were cast as wonderkid actors in the 60s and Pusle Helmuth was definitely one of the most famous, as she featuring in a little more than a handful of nationally popular films over a five-year period starting in 1966.
This single was part of my parents' record collection and a single I hardly ever listened to. Even as a 6-7 year-old, I simply found it of little interest, although, the songs were part of my earliest music memories with music that wasn't purely children's songs.
