The band consists of Hugh Cornwell on vocals (lead vocals on tracks #1-2, #5-7, and #9), guitar and backing vocals, Jean-Jacques Burnel on vocals (lead vocals on tracks #3-4, #8, and #10-11), bass guitar and backing vocals, Dave Greenfield on keyboards, organs and backing vocals, and with Jet Black on drums and percussion.
The album is the only by The Stranglers to be enlisted in "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die".
