CD single by Sinéad O'Connor is the second of three singles to be taken from the album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (Mar. 1990). It followed the global number #1 hit cover release of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" from Jan. '90 (preceding the album), and was followed in Oct. '90 by "Three Babies". The single was issued in various formats with different tracklists - it came as a two-song standard 7'' vinyl edition with "What Do You Want?" as B-side. A four-track 12'' vinyl issue was released with a remix of the title song as the first track and the 7'' mix as the second track followed by two versions of "I Am Stretched on Your Grave" (tracks #3 and #4 on the cd issue) on the B-side, and then several cd issues exists. Imo, the title track stand much alone on this strange issue with songs pointing in all directions - they want to attract a dance community, the indie pop scene, and people who are into celtic vibes. It's not that great and basically doesn't pay due credit to the dimensions of the title track.
