Single release by synthpop band China Crisis is the third single release taken from the band's second studio album Working With Fire and Steel from (1983). The single peaked at number #9 on the UK singles chart list in the Spring of '84 and became the band's only national top-10 single hit.
I probably purchased this shortly after it had been released at a point where I embraced the new tones of synthpop, and China Crisis seemed to be part of the same musical direction, as bands like New Order, OMD and Simple Minds. However, in hindsight, and also soon after; I understood that China Crisis was much more pop-oriented and basically shared more traits with Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, and Culture Club. Also in retrospect, I find it somewhat difficult to discover my original fascination for the A-side hit.
