9th solo album by Nena is a 2 cd and 31 tracks covers album. Initially, I found it superfluous, but it's actually quite fine. It's a huge blend of sources, ages, and original styles, but Nena has handpicked the songs, claiming them as favorites, and she manages to make them her own with personal interpretations. Half of the songs are of German origin, and they are all found on Disc 1, whereas Disc 2 all are of foreign (meaning: primarily English) origin, and this also contain the least favorable compositions as they are also the most well-known, e.g. Bowie's "Heroes" (here: "Helden") and "Starman", Rolling Stones' "The Last Time", and "She's Like a Rainbow", Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" and "Blowin' in the Wind", and Neil Young's "After the Goldrush".
It's a fine collection, and I'm close to handing it another half star like allmusic.com does.
