5th studio album by Laurie Anderson following 5 full years after the album Strange Angels (Oct. 1989). The album is divided in two halves - the first seven tracks are labelled "Bright Red", and the last seven: "Tightrope". It's both something new and then not a major difference from Strange Angels in trems of style, although, I think, she attempts to mix the former's more popish-style with something that bonds with her earlier works, experimenting with a more minimalist way of expression in a combination with lyrics. However, the five years between the two releases makes this a bit of a disappointment. The album received mixed reviews, and although, I don't find it bad as it actually clearly betters her '89 album. And then, it's neither entirely great. It surely offers more as an album with much focus on the lyrical aspect.
