3rd studio album by Everything but the Girl is a move into more sugary sophisti-pop with stress on pop. All songs are as usual credited either the two together or solely Watt or Thorn. Gone are the jangle pop and strong jazz elements, and instead it has become a mix of swing, big band, and pop soul with lots of violins, brass, and... marimbas.
I have tried to enjoy it but failed on several occasions - I do find the lamenting vocal of Tracey Thorn's melancholy filling each pop tune with blue notes that lifts the whole thing. Although, you may find it qualifying as their perhaps least interesting release it still has that thing to it, which lifts this from the ordinary. The front cover is not particular good.
This proves that any album by this duo is worth more than a listen.
